Vandover has long been an advocate for the critical need to link mobility and talent management. The shift in workforce demographics and priorities has introduced a new set of motivators for mobility candidates, and retaining top talent absolutely depends on applying this new mindset. In response, Vandover has developed a mobility consulting capability to help determine the appropriate employee, accompanying partner, and family program to best sustain your mobile workforce and retain your top talent.

Vandover’s mobility consulting services are designed to help your organization develop proper support for your employees and their families through all stages of transition, including:

Recruiting

Candidate pool development

Relocation

Group moves

Exiting/outplacement/retirement

Policy Development

Successful talent management and mobility programs start with strategy. As part of our mobility consulting services, Vandover can help your organization design mobility policies, programs and strategies that best support employees and accompanying families–a critical element of relocation and assignment success. We will advise your organization through the following stages of successful mobility policy development to help improve your results:

Benchmarking – We will provide analysis of how your employee and family support offerings compare to others in your industry, helping to identify strengths and weaknesses in relation to best practices.

Development – Vandover can help you develop and implement the appropriate employee and family support programs to meet your organizational goals, whether that be creating policy where there is none or analyzing and improving existing policies.

Monitoring – Vandover will help establish organizational metrics for success, track and collect this data, and then recommend appropriate adjustments to increase mobility program success rates.

Our primary objective is to help ensure that you have the right talent, in the right place, at the right time, with the right support, to achieve your business goals.

Ensuring that the right talent is mobile–at the right time–to get the job done is a key component of successful talent-management planning. Vandover coaches employers and employees through every step of the global mobility process–from strategic talent decisions to successful career and lifestyle transitions. Whether your organization requires the support to recruit new talent, develop your candidate pool, or relocate individuals or groups, Vandover can customize an approach that enables a smooth transition.

Pre-decision

Candidates face serious concerns about the housing market, job market for the accompanying partner, finances, children’s education, family healthcare, eldercare, and much more. At the same time, your company needs the right talent to fill critical positions and achieve business objectives. Understanding your candidates’ concerns leads to helping them make the right mobility decision. The right decision means better ROI for your organization’s mobility program and a smoother transition for the employee and family.

Transition Support

Whether you require individual or group transitions, Vandover can customize a plan to fit your needs. We’ll work closely with your key decision makers to strategize, communicate, and implement your mobility plan.

Vandover offers a model of service options to fully support the transition of your global workforce. From outbound to repatriation, Vandover can provide essential resources, coaching, and support to make the transition as smooth as possible. We take a 360-degree approach to supporting employees and their families, from:

Pre-decision assessment

Preparation for departure

Acclimation to the new location

Advocacy during the assignment

Repatriation

Acclimation to home country

A key element of Vandover’s approach includes providing support until needs are met. These needs are determined by the transferee and their Transition Coach, not based on hours.

Survey after survey cites the top reasons for relocation or assignment refusal as: 1) family concerns, 2) employee career aspirations, 3) partner’s career, and 4) quality of life in the new location. TalentMobility® identifies and addresses all of these concerns upfront to help turn what would otherwise be a refusal into an accepted offer.

Pioneered by Vandover, TalentMobility® is an online self-assessment, paired with one-on-one coaching. It is specifically designed to help the candidate evaluate important family, lifestyle, and career concerns as they relate to the proposed relocation or assignment.

Each candidate completes a detailed survey to assess the six most impactful factors to mobility:

Relationships

Lifestyle

Location

Family finance & legal

Employee career

Spouse/partner career

Each candidate’s assessment is then paired with one-on-one coaching and research to help eliminate perceived obstacles uncovered in the results–often eliminating pre-conceived notions about a location or move that would otherwise have caused them to decline.

In the end, the candidate is able to confidentially identify and address his or her concerns upfront, significantly decreasing the possibility of a failed or declined relocation or assignment. The organization receives summary trends and demographics reporting on their employee population, including metrics to help strengthen future mobility programs, policy, and strategy.
